VIDALIA, Ga. (WTOC) - Vidalia City Schools have decided to delay the first day of school to Aug. 21.

According to the superintendent, the decision was made to delay the start of school by two weeks in hopes that the recent surge in COVID-19 cases locally would diminish. The delayed start will also give teachers and staff extra time prepare for the school year.

The delayed start is for those that have chosen the in-person and virtual option.
