PEMBROKE, Ga. (WTOC) - There were car horns, sirens, and plenty of music.
Students left the classroom to hold homemade signs and several people in the community braved the rain to cheer Thursday as the Bryan County softball team took off for Columbus for the GHSA State Championships.
“Knowing that I have this support behind me will give us that boost that we need,” says senior infielder Alisha Fabin.
And that was just as they were leaving. What will happen if they return as state champs?
“Oh, it’ll be like a big ol' party,” laughs senior catcher Daxne Carrera.
Bryan County is one of three southeast Georgia teams that will compete in Columbus this weekend, joined by Vidalia and Emanuel Co. Institute.
The Bryan team says they were very thankful for the community and student support.
