SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Saint Leo University-Savannah Center and Savannah Feed the Hungry gave out Thanksgiving meals to 12 deserving families.
Saint Leo University officials say they value community and wanted to help do something to take the stress off some families for Thanksgiving. With the help of Representative Carl Gilliard and Savannah Feed the Hungry this idea came to life. Over the last few weeks, the university asked people to nominate a deserving family.
All the families say they were shocked and surprised to be given some help during this time.
“It just means so much because there is so much going on and so many people have been impacted, our family as well, and just to be considered for something like this is a wonderful thing,” Denise Holmes said.
Each family came by to pick up their turkey and green beans to help them have a complete Thanksgiving meal.
