LONG COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Long County School District Administrators have made the decision to delay reopening schools for students until Monday, Jan. 11.
They made the decision after monitoring local COVID-19 data provided by the Georgia Department of Public Health throughout the Christmas break.
System employees will report to work onsite for the week of Jan. 4. During that time, teachers and school administrators will prepare for district-wide virtual learning to be initiated Monday, Jan. 11, in the event that it is still deemed necessary at that time.
The school system says the decision to possibly transition to 100 percent virtual learning on Jan. 11 will be determined no later than Thursday, Jan. 7.
