7-month-old kidnapped in Long Co. found in safe condition; suspect in custody

LONG CO., Ga. (WTOC) - A 7-month-old that was kidnapped in Long County was located in safe condition in Statesboro on Thursday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

An Amber Alert was issued for the infant on Thursday morning. She was reportedly kidnapped around 9 a.m. in the Glennville area of Long County.

The suspect, 23-year-old Leander Nathaniel Harris, has been taken into custody and will be charged with the abduction of a child and an assault on the child’s mother.

According to the GBI, Harris is the biological father of the child; however, the child was considered endangered based on the “forceful abduction of the child and violent assault on the mother.”
