ATHENS, Ga. (WTOC) - Georgia’s senior captain Richard LeCounte has made it official, announcing on Twitter that he is heading to the NFL.
LeCounte, a Riceboro native, said in part, “The last four years at Georgia have been the best years of my life,” and continued, “To Coach Smart and the entire Georgia Coaching staff ... thank you for your belief in me and for pushing me to be the best both on and off the field.”
LeCounte is the third starter out of Georgia’s secondary to leave the team, joining underclassmen and cornerbacks Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell.
He was 2020 All-SEC First Team and in his four-years in red and black, playing in 44 games notching 106 tackles and 8 interceptions.
He has accepted a bid to the Reece’s Senior Bowl.
