SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Senior Citizens, Inc. is still closed to the public due to COVID-19. But the president and CEO says some of their services will soon be making a return.

SCI will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new building on Friday, Jan. 8, which is something that was expected to happen almost a year ago but couldn’t because of COVID-19.

Construction on the new building ended last year. But due to the coronavirus, SCI has been unable to share it with the public.

SCI President and CEO, Patti Lyons, says starting Monday, a small group of seniors will be allowed inside to participate in lessons with the learning center. She says since they’ll be opening their doors soon, they had to have a grand opening event.

“We are going to do the official ribbon cutting but we are going to live stream it on our Facebook page, and we will send the link out to anyone who wants to watch it,” Lyons explained.
