SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A donation to the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System is helping thousands of students log in to class a little easier.
T-Mobile is donating over $4 million to SCCPSS to purchase over 5,600 hotspot Wi-Fi devices immediately, and then another 4,000 this summer.
T-Mobile started Project 10 Million before the pandemic in hopes of closing the digital divide, but now there is an even greater need for the devices.
Superintendent Dr. Ann Levett thanked T-Mobile saying internet connectivity is as necessary as electricity is to the student.
Each school will handle the distribution of the hotspot devices. If your student qualifies for free or reduced lunch, then your household is eligible for a device.
