Virtual Events Planned in Liberty County to Commemorate Martin Luther King Day

Liberty County MLK Celebrations

HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - Although most of the Martin Luther King Day parades around our area have been canceled, there are still a lot of ways for you to celebrate his life and impact.

In Liberty County, virtual events are planned throughout the week. Pastor Alvin Jackson is the director of the Martin Luther King Observance Association. He shared what a usual King Day celebration looks like as well as a preview of Saturday’s event.

”Really great, really good participation. We have to have a big church or something that we can have the commemorative service in. On that Saturday morning we have a leadership breakfast. This year we won’t have a leadership breakfast, we’ll just have a leadership program, and our speaker this year is going to be Pastor Linda Gladen from the New Bethel AME Church in Brunswick, Georgia, and we invite our leaders in our community to come together.”

The virtual programming continues Friday with the observance committee’s “Cultural Arts Program.” That’s at 7:00 p.m. You can stream all the events live on the MLK Observance Association’s Facebook Page.
