INDIANAPOLIS (WTOC) - Davion Mitchell is a champion once again.

The Hinesville native, who led Liberty County to the GHSA Boys Basketball state title in 2016, helped the Baylor Bears to a dominant 86-70 victory over Gonzaga in Monday’s national championship game.

Mitchell scored 15 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists in Monday night’s win, and was named to the 2021 All Tournament Team.

The title is the first for the Baylor men’s basketball program.

Now Mitchell may turn his eyes to the NBA. The junior guard’s draft stock rose throughout the season, and his tournament performance further elevated it. Many project the Hinesville native as a first round pick in July’s draft, some even as a lottery prospect.
