Ogeechee Tech holds first COVID-19 vaccine clinic

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - One of the area’s largest technical colleges offered vaccinations on campus for the first time Tuesday afternoon.

The clinic marks the first time Ogeechee Technical College has offered vaccinations for students, faculty, staff and their families.

People came through the Natural Resources Building a few at a time to get their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. While they were there, local pharmacist Ben Ross went over some of the temporary side affects some people feel after getting the vaccine.

While thousands of people have gotten the vaccine, Ross says we still have a long way to go in getting everyone protected.

“We encourage everybody to get it, not just to protect yourself. Obviously when you get the vaccine you protect yourself, but you’re protecting your community as well. So it’s very important. It’s going to take a group effort now that we’re all getting vaccinated,” Ross said.

He said they brought 200 doses and they hope they get the chance to administer them all. Everyone who was vaccinated on Tuesday will come back in early May to get their second dose.
