SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - This Friday, Savannahians will take to the stage to help children in need across Chatham County.
“Dancing with Savannah Stars” is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Savannah/Chatham County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
“I’ve been a volunteer for them for two years, and it’s changed my life, really, because I’ve been able to be part of an organization that supports children who have been abused or neglected in our community and to just be able to ensure that they have an advocate with them every step of the way while they are in care,” Amanda Meyer, a volunteer who will be dancing in the competition, said. “It just shows how impactful this organization is to know that someone is there for them.”
The competition will take place Friday, April 9. Volunteers partner up with professional dancers to learn a new routine. Meyer said she began practicing back in September.
“I’ve learned a lot working with a professional. I’ve learned to follow, which isn’t always the easiest thing for me. I’m a pretty independent person, so it’s been fun to have to be flexible and learn.”
