SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting on the 1100 block of Graydon Street on Sunday night. It is the first gun-related homicide in the City of Savannah in 2022.

According to Savannah Police Chief Roy Minter, a 23-year-old female was killed. The other three victims sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Two of those injured were juveniles.

The chief said that officers have found at least 60 shell casings during the investigation and several homes and cars were hit by gunfire.

“Unfortunately, folks, this is another senseless act of violence that has occurred in our community that has put innocent families and children in danger and resulted in the loss of a woman’s life,” Chief Minter said.

Chief Minter says detectives are making headway, talking with people in the area of the scene. But so far, no arrests have been made, and police are still asking for help solving the case.

“We’ve got to find some way to break this culture of violence in our community. And to continue to see another senseless act like this that significantly puts individuals lives in danger, and has resulted in one person losing their life, is completely unacceptable,” Chief Minter said.

“Whatever the beef was, it was not worth somebody losing their life. And so, as the chief has said, and I believe in all my heart, that if they’re out there...these gentlemen behind me will find them. That is what we do at the Savannah Police Department,” Savannah Mayor Van Johnson said.
