First ever Savannah Jewish Cultural Arts Festival
The new event is an expansion on the Jewish Film Festival
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Tuesday marks the beginning of the Inaugural Savannah Jewish Cultural Arts Festival.
“We’re always looking to do new innovating programming to reach the Jewish community and the broader community to bring in different demographics,” said Jewish Educational Alliance Director of Community Impact Jamie Richman.
That was the inspiration for something new from the Savannah Jewish Federation this year.
“The community has been doing a Savannah Jewish Film Festival for about 20 years and this year we have taken the opportunity of making changes to expand it into a cultural arts festival,” said Richman.
Despite the changes they aren’t getting rid of the films, they’re just simply offering more.
“In addition to the nine films that will be showing we also have meals, and music, and cooking classes and art classes and an art gallery show and just all kinds of events through March 24,” Richman says.
While they’re excited to be able to celebrate their Jewish culture, they’re more excited to be able to do it together.
“A big celebration. A lot of different opportunities to connect. After two years of not having so many events we are excited for people to come back in the building, come back together and celebrate our Jewish culture together,” Richman said.
