Round 2 of RBC Heritage tees off Friday
HILTON HEAD, S.C. (WTOC) - Round two of the RBC Heritage tees off at Harbour Town on Friday.
All golfers are chasing one man who raced out to an early lead.
A full day with the entire field still in action and with full capacity. And if today is anything like yesterday - you better get here early or you might miss some of the best shots of the day.
That’s because your first round leader, Cameron Young, was in the very first group of the day to tee off.
Young went out and shot an eight under par 63, including hitting eight birdies. And so much for coming into the tournament with momentum. The 24-year-old out of Wake Forest missed the cut at The Masters last week.
But that may have given him more time to focus and prepare.
“I had a nice couple days off last weekend, so we got here, and I played Monday morning, played all 18 holes, which I think was kind of nice because I got to see them all and kind of think about it for a couple days before I really had to play. Whereas typically you’re lucky to see all 18 holes by Tuesday afternoon,” Young said.
Young has a two shot lead over Joaquin Niemann. And then five guys are tied for third - three shots back, including last year’s Club Car Champion Adam Svensson.
In fact, a lot of golfers are jammed in to the top 10. Nineteen golfers are four under or better right now. And 91 are at even or better.
Our two local guys will be teeing off this morning and have some work to do to get back in it.
Brian Harman is at one over par and tees off at 8:27 a.m. Bryson Nimmer is plus four. He’ll tee off at 9 a.m. in the last group of the morning tee times.
The leader, Cameron Young, is the first of the “afternoon wave” just before noon. The group of major champions, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Shane Lowry go off at 1:18 p.m.
