Pedestrian involved in crash on Broughton Street, according to police

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A pedestrian was involved in a crash on Broughton Street on Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a crash on Broughton Street near Barnard Street around 2:30 p.m. and discovered Aguilar Lopez, 39, suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 71-year-old driver was attempting to parallel park his 2001 Mercedes Benz E320 when he struck the gas, resulting in the vehicle entering the sidewalk.

The vehicle continued down the sidewalk, striking a tree, and several bikes before entering the construction zone and striking Lopez.

The crash remains under investigation.

No charges have been filed at this time.
