Inside Vinnie Van Go-Go’s
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Making pizza with Vinnie Van Go-Go’s.
They describe their pizza as a thin hearty crust pizza called “Neapolitan.” It’s a spot tourists flock to and locals go to for a break from seafood and high prices.
Did you know when Vinnie’s was first started it was a one person operation and only a to-go place? Christy Jones has been working at Vinnies for eight years.
She told a story of how the restaurant got it’s first waitress.
“There was a very persistent girl that was like you need a waitress and he was like no I don’t. She said no you need a waitress and she just kept coming back and was kind of like I work here now. And we love and appreciate her,” said Jones.
Vinnies has grown since then. They now offer a dine in option outdoor seating
And lunch specials that bring in huge crowds. So much so, they created an outdoor register to speed up the process.
“There aren’t that many options where you can get a lunch or get something really quick that’s not a fancy sit down seafood type of thing, because everyone can agree on pizza,” said Jones.
