RINCON, Ga. (WTOC) - A teenager has been arrested after a shooting in Rincon on Wednesday night.

DaMarion Mapp, 17, is facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm and sale of marijuana.

Officers responded to a reported shooting just after 7:05 p.m. Police say the victim was near the intersection of Highway 21 and 4th Street when he called 911 to report the shooting.

Police later realized the shooting happened a few blocks away on Fox Trace in the Ridgewood subdivision. A search warrant was obtained and executed in the home where the shooting was believed to have occurred.

One neighbor said there were at least 30 law enforcement units in this area for hours.

“It was a bit intense. They had a lot of units. The neighborhood was flooded and definitely covered very well. They did an awesome job coming in here and securing everybody. Chief Murrell and Jimmie’s guys came in here and saturated the neighborhood. It was real safe. It was concerning for everybody, but they did a good job of securing everything,” said Brian Gerrald, who lives in the neighborhood.

The victim, also a 17-year-old, was taken to the hospital and has since been released.
