Heartwood Community looks to expand footprint in Bryan County, ease convenience for residents
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The community of Heartwood in Richmond Hill is continuing its expansion. The area isn’t just seeing a housing boom either it’s growing as a commercial space. WTOC has an updated look at the area.
“You know, we’re just getting started,” said VP of Real Estate, Bill Cunningham.
It’s a project that’s 10 years in the making.
The first residents moved in 25 months ago, now there’s 130 occupied homes.
Over 400 folks call this place home.
The Heartwood community expects to feature these homes and apartments along with different places to work, different places to eat, a St. Joseph’s Candler campus right across the street, and the new high school coming next year, all with the goal of having everything the community needs right here.
“It’s going to be interesting. I’m really thankful that we worked with the city and the county on widening the Belfast-Keller Road. So that will be done just about in time for the new high school to open. And so we’ve worked with them just like we did with the interchange,” said Cunningham.
One, two, and three bedroom apartments are next to come in the Heartwood community, along with an active adult residential area opening next year. That includes seven to eight miles of walking trails and free health screenings for residents.
An Enmarket and a storage facility are coming into the area as well. Along with a new childcare center in the works, that will start construction in the fall.
”We were intentional in planning, intentional working with the school district to create that K-12 campus, intentional about working with the Economic Development Authority and the county and city on creating the Commerce Park to create jobs, and then the new interchange, Exit 82,” said Cunningham.
Some exciting things to come, and many of these construction projects are going to be ongoing, so make sure to stay with us as we continue to cover the latest on the expansion in the area.
