GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY/Gray News) - At 91 years old, Pete LeMere still has no trouble hiking up the Lambeau Field staircase to section 117, row 46, seats 15 and 16.

LeMere has made the trip more than a few times.

“It’s something to be a part of,” LeMere said. “It’s exciting to be a part of.”

LeMere attended his first Packers game when Curly Lambeau was still coaching the team.

“Fall of 1948 was my first game,” he said. “Kind of got hooked on the Packers. Been a fan ever since.”

Ten years later, LeMere made a decision that would change his family’s game day experience forever.

“After we came to the new stadium, we were coming to most every game anyhow,” he said. “So we thought ‘Well, we might as well buy the season tickets.’”

Those season tickets now belong to LeMere’s son, Mike.

Sitting alongside his father, Mike LeMere reminisced on some of the great memories he experienced inside the stadium.

“It’s kind of just always that same feeling of excitement to be here, seeing the crowd,” Mike LeMere said.

The father and son duo have experienced some of Lambeau’s most historic moments firsthand.

For Pete LeMere, it’s the Ice Bowl in 1967 that stands out. The NFL game received that nickname due to the brutally cold weather conditions experienced during that day.

“It was pretty chilly that day,” he said. “I have the mittens I bought for that game.”

As for Mike LeMere, the heavily-snowed-on 1985 game that came to be known as the Snow Bowl comes to mind.

“Luckily, my parents live close enough we could walk to the game and walk back,” he said.

Nowadays, Pete LeMere has traded in his seat on the aluminum bleachers at Lambeau Field for his recliner at home, allowing his family to continue to enjoy the game day fun.

Still, he finds a reason to make his way back to 1265 Lombardi Avenue.

“I’m on the Lambeau Field cleanup with Friends of Plum and Pilot Island,” Pete LeMere said. “We get together, we clean up, we have fun talking. It’s just fun to do.”

He remains a dedicated fan helping to raise money for a cause close to his heart while supporting the team that captured it over 70 years ago.

“It’s special to be part of the family that’s living on the Packer tradition,” Pete LeMere said. “Go Pack Go!”
