5 charged after girl, 6, tests positive for meth, marijuana, authorities say
YORK, Neb. (KSNB/Gray News) - Nebraska authorities say five people are facing charges after a young girl living with them tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, a sergeant went to an area home on Dec. 5 to serve a civil process paper to Lynn Desantiago, 37.
However, the sergeant reported smelling burnt marijuana coming from inside the house while seeing a child standing in the living room.
Later that day, York police and deputies served a search warrant on the home.
The report stated that the home smelled heavily of burnt marijuana and cigarette smoke upon the authorities’ arrival.

Law enforcement said there were certain areas of the home that were also concerning from what they found during their search.
“The conditions of the basement were disgusting, as the floor was covered in dirt and grime. It appeared that the residence had not been cleaned in some time,” York County officials said.
Authorities noted that mouse feces were found throughout the basement, including in a storage basket with blankets right outside a child’s bedroom.
Additionally, the bathroom toilet was reportedly covered in feces.
“In this house, we smoke it, eat it, vape it ... we believe in weed,” the sheriff’s office said that a sign in the home read.
Investigators said numerous bottles of medication were found in a room where the 6-year-old child reportedly slept, along with narcotics and drug paraphernalia throughout the home.
According to an affidavit, Lynn Desantiago and Krystal Desantiago told investigators they had used marijuana that day while denying the other allegations.
Krystal Desantiago was arrested and booked into the York County Jail on charges of child abuse, without injury, two counts of controlled substance possession, intentionally violating narcotic drug law and possession of marijuana.
Lynn Desantiago and the other residents at the home, Brandon Desantiago, 18, Antonio Desantiago, 19, and Katherine Desantiago, 60, were also arrested on a child abuse, no injury, charge.
Those arrested had their bond set at $25,000.
