Doctor addresses endometriosis myths and treatment options
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 9 women are affected by endometriosis, an often painful disease that some women are told they have to just deal with.
St. Joseph’s/Candler OB/GYN Dr. Andres Montes is working to break down the disease and debunk myths about endometriosis, providing patients with better understanding of their condition and treatment options.
Montes says Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain and other symptoms that can significantly impact quality of life.
The condition affects millions of women worldwide, yet Dr. Montes says many receive limited information about available treatments. Dr. Montes discussed treatment options on Morning Break.
