Savannah jeweler and SCAD alumna selected for London Fashion Week runway show
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Gillian Trask, a Savannah-based jewelry artist and Savannah College of Art and Design alumna, has been selected to present her work at the 2026 London Fashion Week through Oxford Fashion Studio, supported by the London Fashion Council. The runway show is scheduled for Sept. 17–21.
Trask said organizers contacted her after discovering her work through Wolf and Badger, a London retailer that previously carried her pieces.
“I got an email saying that they had found me through Wolf and Badger, and they said, ‘We love to support up-and-coming artists. What do you think?’ I said, ‘Heck yes, I’m ready. Let’s do this,’” Trask said.
Nine archetypes, one runway
The show will feature nine looks built around what Trask describes as different archetypes, components that reflect her personal identity. Models will wear minimal clothing so the jewelry takes visual priority.
“They are going to have minimal fashion on, so that the jewelry has the hierarchy,” Trask said. “We’re doing nine different archetypes of the different components that create, well, me. Everything from the warrior, to the artist, to the dancer...well, you’ll have to find out.”
Pieces in the collection will include shoulder pieces, bracelets, bangles, rings and headpieces. Trask welds many of the works by hand.
A collection rooted in resilience
Trask enrolled at SCAD at 40 years old. During her thesis project, she accidentally melted the broach she had been working on — hours before it was due.
“Melted it at 3 in the morning, and it was due at 9 the next day,” she said. “Crying and fire don’t mix.”
She rebuilt the piece overnight, creating what became the foundation of her “Life in Circle” collection — a ring design where two ends overlap rather than meet.
“It means that we go through tough times like this, but we always come back around on top,” Trask said. “That’s kind of what I leaned into that idea of self-empowerment. And now also for the community, because it’s not just about me. It’s bigger than me.”
Awards, philanthropy and a Savannah showroom
Trask operates a showroom in downtown Savannah. Her work has been published nationally and internationally, and she has received recognition from the International Design Awards. She was named Best Jewelry Store in Georgia for both 2024 and 2025, and received the Community Leadership Award with Brightside Advocacy in 2025. Her work has also been shown at Milano Jewelry Week and London Accessory Week.
She is known for philanthropic work with Savannah/Chatham CASA and Brightside, organizations that support foster children. Trask, who was a foster child herself, donates personal time and business proceeds to both organizations.
Trask said she hopes her London collection connects with audiences on a deeper level.
“I think we’re in a time in the world where creators are really necessary to remember why we’re here,” she said. “The strength that we have, and our capabilities, and the joy that we can have those are very powerful things that connect us all.”
