SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia hosted its Legacy of Leadership event at the Savannah Convention Center, celebrating the organization’s impact while empowering young girls across the community.

The event honored a Girl Scout who has spent her time impacting generations of girls. The organization recognized Sherry Feathers for her contributions during the morning’s program.

Donna Orender, commissioner of the Upshot Basketball League, served as the event’s keynote speaker.

“The upshot league is all about creating opportunities like today, where organizations can come together and connect,” Orender said.

The organization said the event is about investing back in hardworking young girls.

“I want them to be able to see their future and find the power from within them through the exposure of these professional, powerful women who are making a difference in our community,” said Krystal Crawford, CEO of Girl Scouts Historic Georgia. “And so those traditions continue on and we expect for the next century to be grounded in those values.”

Proceeds from the event directly support Girl Scouts efforts.
