One teen dead, another injured after shooting at Irene Thomas Park
HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE] One teen is dead and another injured after a Sunday night shooting in Hinesville.
An 18-year-old died and another teen was wounded after being shot in Irene Thomas Park in Hinesville Sunday night.
According to Hinesville Police Chief, Tracey Howard both teens were injured in a shooting shortly after 10 p.m.
Howard said a group of about 25 to 30 teens were gathered in the park when gunfire erupted striking the male teen in the abdomen. HPD officer Jeff Luie performed CPR on the teen until medical personnel arrived. The teen was taken to a medical center in Hinesville where he was later pronounced dead.
The deceased teen was identified as Jamontae Barnes, 18, of Hinesville.
Chief Howard said the teen girl was shot in the leg and was also taken to a medical center in Hinesville, her condition is unknown.
It is not known if the teens are from Hinesville.
This shooting remains under investigation, no one has been arrested.

Two individuals had gunshot-related injuries and were transported for medical treatment. They did not release their conditions at this time.
