GALS Foundation presenting Sickle Cell Awareness event

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah-based GALS Foundation will hold a World Sickle Cell Day Symposium to raise awareness of Sickle Cell Anemia on Saturday, June 20 at the Armstrong Center.

Sickle Cell Anemia is a blood disorder that primarily affects people of African, Middle Eastern, South Asian and Hispanic descent.

The symposium will feature healthcare professionals, community leaders and individuals living with Sickle Cell. The guest speaker will Junior from the Steve Harvey Show, who is living with Sickle Cell.
