Gov. Kemp extends Georgia gas tax suspension to November

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has extended the suspension of the state’s gas tax until November.
The suspension, which was originally set to expire Oct. 29, will now expire on Nov. 5.
Along with the extension, Kemp also waived “penalties for the use of off-road ‘dyed’ diesel, providing further relief to Georgia’s truckers and farmers,” as part of the state of emergency he declared when he suspended the gas tax, his office said in a release.
“For the duration of the State of Emergency, there will be no state penalties incurred for selling, delivering, or using dyed fuel oil for on-road vehicle use,” his office said.

Kemp said with the state’s farmers and truckers “under heavy pressure,” the state is “leaving no stone unturned when it comes to giving them relief, along with the hardworking Georgians who rely on the goods they produce and deliver.”
According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of regular gas in Georgia has decreased by around 33 cents and the average price of diesel has decreased by over 42 cents.
