SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A new project will soon be underway at Forsyth Park, the City of Savannah announced Wednesday morning.

The “Gathering Space” will offer new seating, shade trees, landscaping and improved accessibility, meant to create a welcoming space for residents and visitors to gather, according to the city.

Work on the site will begin in October with tree pruning, the removal of old playground equipment and grading.

Located at the north end of Forsyth Park, the space’s redesign is based on community feedback from November 2025 asking Savannah residents how they use the space and what they would like to see in the future.

The City of Savannah said they are working to finalize locations, schedules and budgets for additional projects in the park and will share updates as plans develop.
