LUDOWICI, Ga. (WTOC) - A county commission meeting on Wednesday drew upset residents following a change in leadership in the elections office.

The county’s elections supervisor resigned last Thursday after claiming the county manager acted incorrectly and would not work with her.

Former supervisor describes resignation

Cersha Snell, the former Long County elections supervisor, was asked why the conflict led to her resignation.

“Why did it lead me to resigning… because I felt like I could not effectively do the job, it was stressing me out, I didn’t think I could give my full 100%,” Snell said.

Snell was unable to provide specific evidence of misconduct.

Replacement hired within 24 hours

Snell’s resignation resulted in a replacement less than 24 hours later. Former Chatham County elections director Brook Schreiner was hired.

WTOC spoke with County Attorney Luke Moses over the phone. Moses said he believes Schreiner is qualified for the position and has no doubt the county will have a safe and accurate election process.
