COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Over 500,000 ballots have been cast in South Carolina less than a week into the state’s early voting period.
Data from the South Carolina Election Commission shows 138,378 ballots were cast statewide between Friday and Saturday, bringing the cumulative total to 501,944.
Greenville, Charleston and Richland counties have seen the highest turnout thus far, with each seeing over 40,000 ballots cast.
Horry, York, Spartanburg, Lexington, Berkeley, Beaufort and Aiken rounded out the top 10.
The first day of the early voting window saw more than double the turnout compared to the 2022 midterm election. That number was slightly down from the 2024 presidential election.
Other details, such as voter participation by party affiliation, are not made available in a general election.
