Krista Monk

Digital Content Executive Producer

Krista is a digital content producer for WALB. She started off as a part-time production assistant, running camera, audio, Chyron and prompter in February of 2015. Krista then stepped into the full-time role of the 5:30 p.m. producer and nightside digital content producer in August of 2015. Later, her role was split into two positions and she followed her passion and dedicated her career to digital content producing at the station. She moved to Albany from Atlanta when she was 19-years-old and attended Turner Job Corps for three years while she also went to Darton College. At Darton, Krista earned associate degrees in journalism and mass communication as well as in criminal justice. When she was hired full-time at WALB, she was still working on her bachelor's degree at Albany State University. Krista graduated in the spring of 2016 with a bachelor's in Mass Communication. She then decided to continue her education and will graduate with a master's degree from Purdue's Brian Lamb School of Communication in the spring of 2019. Krista enjoys surprising the newsroom on a regular basis with her vibrant and frequent hair color changes. She also enjoys showcasing her passion (and nerdiness) for science-fiction through the Star Wars, Star Trek and comic book paraphernalia decorating her desk. She spends her free time writing her own fiction stories, visiting Atlanta and catching up on all her favorite aliens and superheroes.
