Jeremy Luther was formally introduced Wednesday at the new men's basketball coach at Armstrong Atlantic State.

Luther is moving from Newberry College where he rebuilt the basketball program in just 2 years... winning 21 games this past season. Luther was hired by new athletic director... Andy Carter... who also hired Luther at Newberry.

Luther's family was there... his wife Ginny and son Bryson. Luther says he's excited about the prospects of coaching the Pirates... and talks about what he would do first when he takes over on Monday. "First thing is the money thing. You see how many kids are returning, how much scholarship is out there, how much is left in the budget, so I can start recruiting. When you lose 3 kids that they lost last year, those 3 seniors were 3 of their top 4 scorers. I've got some holes to fill and this late in the game it's going to be tough to find the kind of kids you want."

The players also seemed to be solidly in their new coach's corner.  "Yeah, I had a pretty good feeling about it," said shooting guard Keron McKenzie. "He's a young guy so he'll bring a new and exciting way of playing to our program."

Point guard Blake Jones added, "When he came in, I was very impressed with the interview he had. The team gave him a good evaluation and we're just ready to get started. We have been without a coach for a month so we're just ready to get a workout schedule going so we can get ready for next season."
