Savannah-Chatham Metro Police will host its annual Police Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 13 as part of National Police Week memorial services taking place across the country. Police agencies from across the area will attend, as well as local dignitaries. The keynote address will be given by Tak Argentinis, President of the 200 Club.

BACKGROUND:

Each year, SCMPD and agencies across the national mark National Police Week with services to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety and security of our community. The event includes the placing of roses - one for each officer who died in the line of duty - at the foot of the memorial statue. There will also be a wreath laying, 21-gun salute, and a riderless horse.

Please note - Oglethorpe Street will be closed from 9:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. between Habersham and Abercorn - both ways.
