SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A mother is asking for the community's help tracking down her son's killer.
Brandon "Tyree" McCullough was shot outside his apartment two days after Christmas. He was only 25-years-old.
Photographs of Tyree are all his mother Audrey and his sister Sha'ney have left now.
"Yesterday made a month that I haven't seen him," Audrey said, as her eyes filled with tears. "I am so used to him calling on the phone saying, 'hey mom'."
Savannah-Chatham police say Tyree was standing outside his apartment at the Oaks on Brandlewood off Garrard Avenue on December 27 when someone shot him in the head.
"My son wasn't a violent person, he didn't carry a gun and what took place with him he didn't deserve," Audrey said. "He really didn't deserve that, because my son had one of the biggest hearts."
Detective Shinita Young is the lead investigator. She has talked to dozens of people, but so far she hasn't had any luck finding Tyree's killer.
Young said, "It wasn't quite dark yet, you had some people who was out, in an apartment complex you have people come and go so I think even the smallest information can help us."
She said she needs the community's help. "We need to come together," said Young. "We need to be stronger to make it a safer community."
And give this grieving family some closure.
"If they know anything or if they have any information that they could help police solve my sons murder, they would do my son and my family a great justice," Audrey said.
