Hearing set for Navy's jet proposal

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The U.S. Navy wants to know what people think about bringing new joint strike fighter F-35 jets to the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort, S.C.

Last month, the Navy proposed that Beaufort, S.C., receive 88 of the new jets to replace its F-18 Hornets. That could mean almost $352 million in construction at the base during the next five years.

A public hearing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Long County High School in Ludowici, S.C. Experts will be on hand to answer questions and take feedback.
