Airport commission completes clean water permit process

The Savannah Airport Commission has sucessfully completed the Section 404 Clean Water Act permitting process for the North Aviation Development project, according to the commission.

The permit, signed with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, will allow the airport to begin work on the project that includes the relocation of Gulfstream Road, extension of Taxiway A and construction of Taxiway H, creation of additional corporate hangar/general aviation development areas, and access to a 175-acre aircraft manufacturing parcel, according to a news release.

The project needed to outline its impact on 42 acres of wetlands. The 175-acre parcel is the site for the recently announced $500 million Gulfstream expansion.
