ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Two 10-year-old boys are dead after a tractor-trailer truck rear-ended the car they were riding in near Athens.

Authorities say Evan Escoe of Hull died instantly in the wreck Friday along U.S. Highway 441. Authorities say Samuel Hart of Comer died Saturday afternoon at an Atlanta hospital.

The children were in the back seat of a car headed to the lake at Sandy Creek Park. The driver was Samuel's mother, Elisha Hart. Authorities say Hart and her 8-year-old son, who was in the front seat, were hurt, but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Authorities said the trucker is a 57-year-old man from North Carolina. He was not identified. The wreck is under investigation. Authorities say drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident.
