SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Community leaders gathered at Savannah's City Hall to announce a special road trip.
Savannah area youth will be taken to Washington, D.C. to witness the dedication of the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in August.
"We want to encourage young people of today's generation to stand up and largely be aware and educated on what the social justice issues are and use that as a platform as inspiration and motivation to create their own change that they want to see within their respective communities' right here in savannah," said Dwayne Marshall of the H.O.P.E. Institute.
Organizers are still raising money for the trip.
The trip is being organized by Youth Universe and The H.O.P.E. Institute.
