SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - On Thursday, the Chick-Fil-A on Abercorn Street in Savannah was the site of a fundraiser organized by 10-year-old Luke Edenfield to bring a free skate park to Chatham county.
There are currently no skate parks in Chatham County, but Edenfield believes that if one is built, it will do more than give skaters a place to go.
"It will help kids get out of the house, go to Savannah Skate Park, and fight childhood obesity," said Edenfield. "That's one of the main reasons."
Supporters have already raised 75 percent of their goal to built the park at Lake Mayer.
They hope to have it ready by next year.
