BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - The home on the corner of Bay and Euhaw St. was completely destroyed when a huge live oak tree, more than 200 years old, fell on it recently.

The Brock family, who was renting the home, say the tree rotted out in the center without them knowing. The family says they're thankful they managed to escape the ordeal. Their teenage daughter, Michayla, was in the kitchen just minutes before it came crashing in.

"I went into the kitchen and got a glass of tea, drank it in the dining room and not even five minutes later we heard cracking and popping. The car alarm went off and the house started shaking," said Michayla Brock.

"You could hear things crash and it felt like an earthquake," said Marcella Brock. "She screamed everyone on the floor, so we jumped on the floor. When it stopped I yelled everyone out, because I knew it was the tree."

Not only did they lose items inside the house, but their car was also destroyed.  The family has found a place to stay and say despite everything they feel blessed.  They say their faith is getting them through the tough time.

If you'd like to help the Brock family, you can make a donation at the Community Bible Church.   You can contact the church at 843.525.0089.
