SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Some local boy scouts helping out some of our furry friends.

The first annual design and build competition kicked off on Saturday.

Some folks from SCAD, a Savannah Tech class and the Boy Scouts will design and build dog houses and cat structures to support the Humane Society for Greater Savannah.

Kelly Nelson, the manager of community outreach says, "we are here with Emergen Structures and some boy scouts taking down some very valuable and very reusable pieces of homes on Jones and Lincoln Streets in Historic Downtown Savannah."

All finished structures need to be completed by September twenty fourth, and will be auctioned off at Re-fest 2011.
