Man falls asleep at wheel killing passenger

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) - A Charleston man is behind bars after leaving the scene of a wreck on I-95 in Jasper County in which his passenger was killed.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol charged Ludvin Joathan Andrez-Gonazlez with leaving the scene of a wreck involving a death, driving too fast for conditions and driving without a valid South Carolina driver's license, according to the .
Andrez-Gonazlez was traveling southbound on I-95 near mile marker 29 in a 1999 Ford Expedition when he fell asleep at the wheel. The SUV ran off the right side of the interstate. He then overcorrected and the SUV rolled. Andrez-Gonzalez ran off, but was found and arrested four hours later by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, with the help of the K-9 tracking team.
Neither Andrez-Gonzlez nor his passenger were wearing seatbelts. The passenger was thrown out of the vehicle and killed.
The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
