Sketch released of Beaufort robbery suspect

BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) - Beaufort police have released a composite drawing of a man who robbed a group of people on Oct. 22.

Two groups were fishing on the old train trestle behind the Beaufort Plaza and were robbed by four armed suspects.

The victims told police that a man and woman were fishing in the area and another group of three men were fishing a short distance away.

A third group four young men came into the same area, hung around for a while and passed the other two groups. Two of them pulled out pistols and robbed the others, according to police. They stole cash and jewelry that's worth up to $545. The suspects took the victims' cell phones, threw them in the water and got away.

The victims were able to describe one of the suspects to a forensic artist from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division who produced the sketch, according to Beaufort police.

The robbers are described as four black males in their late teens to early 20s. Three of them were wearing black shirts and black shorts. The fourth suspect was wearing a red hat, white t-shirt and black shorts. He was of medium height and thin build.
