SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah Christian Church's Ten Can 5K run took a strange twist Nov.24. Two runners were hit by a deer. They were bruised and cut but were able to laugh it off in the end.

"I think probably a historic event for races in Savannah. We had two runners who were taken down by some deer. It was very scary. They had some nice bruises and cuts to go with it but I think they are okay but very sad they didn't get to finish the race," said Dan Pavlin, race director.

The good news is the runners are okay and they did get their race t-shirts in the end. The Ten Can run brought in donations of canned food for the homeless and hungry. About 350 took part in the run.
