PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC) - Christopher Clemons, 18, of Tillman, South Carolina is facing one count of robbery after Port Royal Police say he attempted to rob the Kangaroo Express at the foot of the Broad River Bridge on Christmas Eve around 6:30 p.m.

In the surveillance video, Clemons walks into the convenience store wearing a plaid jacket and a hoodie. He heads straight behind the counter, takes a hundred dollar bill from the first clerk, then goes strait to the other clerk to get more money from the cash register.

Police say Clemons had his hand in his pocked and pretended to have a gun. But it turns out, he didn't have a gun. When the store clerk realized it was just his hand, he tackled the robber to the ground. The other clerk assisted him and several patrons in the store stepped up and helped the clerks hold Clemons down until police arrived.

Police are still investigating and are looking in to see if Clemons is connected with any other crimes in the area.

Clemons is being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center on $25,000 bond.
