Fire destroys vacant building in Bluffton

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Fire marshals and police in Bluffton are investigating a raging fire that erupted at a vacant structure Thursday night.

The Bluffton Township Fire District was dispatched at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday on Buck Island Road.

The first crews that arrived saw a fully involved fire at a vacant structure that had exposure to an adjacent shed. Due to the heavy volume of fire, the companies went into a defensive attack, according to the Bluffton Township Fire District.

It took crews about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control and another half hour to take care of the remaining debris.

The fire is being investigated by the Bluffton Township Fire Marshals and the Bluffton Police Dept. Beaufort County EMS also responded to the fire.
