Man accidentally shoots himself in the face

BRUNSWICK, GA (WTOC) - At approximately 4:07 p.m. April 29, officers with the Brunswick Police Department responded to the parking lot of the McDonald's restaurant on Altama Ave. in reference to an accidental firearm discharge.

Officers discovered that a 21-year-old white male from St. Simons Island accidentally shot himself in the right facial check area while he was sitting in his parked vehicle.

The investigation has revealed that the injured man was in legal possession of the handgun.

The man was transported to Memorial for additional medical treatment. Police say the subject received a non-life threatening injury and is expected to make a full recovery.
