SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Friday was the final day of filming of the Spongebob movie on Broughton Street, and many businesses were happy the production was here.
Store owners that wish to preserve the work done to their stores in conjunction with the production have to act fast, as some crew members are already hard at work to return buildings to their original conditions.
Paramount Pictures has until Nov. 7 to return all of the buildings they altered to their original condition, but businesses who want to keep awnings and colors will have to apply to the MPC and fill out a Certificate of Appropriateness, which can be found HERE.
A raffle was also held, with Mayor Edna Jackson and the Savannah Downtown Business Association partnering up to draw the winners.
Shoppers had the opportunity to win a multitude of prizes, and the winners are: Angie Waters won a Spongebob theme party. Lisa Mency won two bikes from Sekka. Judith Averill won a weekend getaway at Marshall House, dinner at Savannah Bistro and gift certificates. And Cody Cross won a 60" TV grand prize, which included a Spongebob movie night collection.
Filming resumes on Tybee Island Monday.
