Deputies in Bulloch County have arrested a man for attempting to burglarize a home.
BCSO deputies responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Mill Creek Rd. Wednesday on a report of a residential burglary alarm going off. Upon arrival, deputies were notified by an alert neighbor that said a white male had been seen walking away from the home where the alarm had been activated. The neighbor reported seeing the suspect walking into the woods near the home.
Deputies and investigators that responded to the area determined that there was attempted forced entry to the residence. They then launched an extensive search of the woods near the home in search of the suspect.
According to the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office, Cpt. Todd Hutchens and Cpt. Rick Rountree were searching an abandoned mobile home in the area when they located the suspect hiding in the bathroom, who was later identified as Richard Gordon Willis, 39, of Mill Creek.
Willis was taken into custody and transported to the Bulloch County Jail where he was charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and criminal trespass. He is being held without bond pending further judicial action.
Willis has an extensive theft and drug history in multiple states throughout the Southeastern U.S.
BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) - Sheriff Anderson would like to commend the alert neighbor who was able to assist deputies in apprehending Willis. He asks that the public continue to report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately.
