A public meeting will take place Tuesday in the Lowcountry about a proposed Carolina Jelly Balls plant in Beaufort County.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control are asking for the public's input about the proposed plant, and also on the existing processing plant in Colleton County.

SEABROOK, SC (WTOC) - The company hopes to harvest jellyfish from Beaufort County waters, process them and ship them overseas where they are considered a delicacy.

A meeting was held in February, in which people attended to voice their opposition to the plant. Some residents and fisherman say they are concerned that discharge from the processing plant will pollute the waters.

If you want to hear more or have something to say about the proposed plant, DHEC will host a public meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Whale Branch Middle School on Trask Parkway in Seabrook.
